Should I download it, order the SD card, or order the CD?
We offer three ways to get our maps. With every order, you're able to download the map. This way you're able to immediately start using your map without having to wait for your map to arrive in the mail. We've made our map installer program as easy as possible, but still, if you're a real computer novice and aren't familiar with downloading files, copying files, etc., then this option is probably not for you. This also allows you to integrate the maps into Garmin's Mapsource software, if you have it. To install the maps yourself with the download method, you'll need either an SD card reader (or slot on your computer) or USB cable for your GPS, and an SD card. If your GPS does not have an SD/microSD slot, you cannot use the SD card option.

If you're a novice when it comes to computers, we suggest you order the maps on a preloaded SD card (provided your GPS uses microSD or SD cards). That way you can just plug it in, turn on the map, and you're all set. It's the easiest, most sure-fire method to get yourself up and running.

The CD option is for those who wish to install the maps themselves, but don't have a fast internet connection and can't download the maps. What you'll get on the CD is exactly the same thing you'd get by downloading the maps.

What is your policy on updates?
For all U.S. maps: with each map purchase, you get the current version, and the next year's version as well. For instance, if you order the 2011 map, you'll also get to download the 2012 map free the following season, or order an updated SD card or CD for $10 and $5 respectively. After the free update period, you can get 30% off the regular price of the next update.

Ontario map: Updates will be free for the current season only. There are no plans to offer a free or discounted upgrade for next season.
When will updates be available?
We update our maps at least once a year in the fall (and usually during the season too). When there are updates for maps you've purchased, you will be notified via e-mail.
Do I need any other maps?
No. Our maps are complete and designed to be used alone. They have their own "background" data, including very highly detailed lakes, rivers, roads, etc., and are designed to accentuate the features important to the purpose of the map and to not allow the other background data to clutter it.
I can't find the map I downloaded.
Usually downloads are saved in the Downloads folder. Most web browsers also have a "Downloads" option in the menus which will show you all files you've downloaded and where they're located.
The best way to download the maps is to right click on the download link and select where to save the file. That way you're sure to know where it's saved.
If the map has downloaded, you do not need to download it again.
How do I download the map I purchased?
To get to the download page, click log in with your e-mail address and password, click "My Account", and then "View" on your order. There will be a download button there.
When I make a route to a destination, it only draws a straight line.
There are a few possible reasons for this: You are not currently near a trail, your destination is too far from trail, or you have the GPS in the wrong mode

For routing to work, you need to be very near a trail. If the GPS draws a straight line between your routing points, it's due to one or more of them being too far from a trail. Only the trails are routable, so you will not be routed on any roads. Not all available Points of Interest (POI) will be easily accessible, so it's up to the user to determine if a POI is suitable for snowmobile travel. Leave the GPS set to either "Fastest Route" or "Shortest Route" and not "Off-Road."

For more information, refer to the detailed routing manual.
Which mode should I have my GPS set to? On-road? Off-road?
Your GPS should be set to automotive / on-road mode for routing to work properly. Off-road mode will result in the GPS drawing a straight line from point to point when trying to create a route.
I don't see the map on my GPS.
You must turn on the Red Pine Mapping map and turn off any other maps on your GPS. The steps to do this vary from model to model, but in general you need to go to Settings / Options, then Map, then Map Info, and then enable your Red Pine Mapping map and disable all others. Consult your manual for more information on switching between maps.
Trails / Towns / Gas Stations don't show up on the map.
Certain map elements only show up when zoomed into a certain level. If you're not seeing trails or Points Of Interest (POIs) it's probably because you're not zoomed in close enough, or your detail level is set too low. The detail setting on your GPS determines how zoomed in you have to be to see certain map detail. If you set it to "Most" you will see more detail when zoomed farther out. To change this setting, see your GPS user manual. It's usually under Settings or Options, and then Map Info.

How should I mount my GPS?
We recommend mounts by RAM-Mounts. They offer mounts for a variety of different devices and applications.
How do I install the map I downloaded or from CD?
The first thing to do is run the map program you downloaded. This will install the map on your computer.

If you have Garmin's Mapsource program already installed on your computer, run it and follow these directions:
