Red Pine Mapping Releases America’s First Routable GPS Snowmobile Trail Maps

Embarrass, MN - 12/1/2009 - Red Pine Mapping has released the first routable GPS snowmobile trail maps for Garmin GPS users. Snowmobilers can now plan their day's destinations, and let their GPS automatically generate a route and provide turn by turn directions. Routes can also be created to the map's database of thousands of snowmobile-related business locations.

"This has been the number one most requested feature from our customers, and we're pleased to now offer this to the snowmobile community," said Ryan Quick, Owner of Red Pine Mapping. "With so many people now using GPS units in their cars for routing, it seemed a natural fit to bring that level of convenience to the snowmobile trail as well. I'm very excited to use it myself this season."

Routes can be created on the GPS itself, or on Garmin's Mapsource PC software. While navigating a route, the GPS calculates the total distance, and how many miles are remaining to the destination.

In addition to current snowmobile trails, Red Pine Mapping's maps also feature detailed lakes and rivers, a road database compiled from multiple sources to provide extensive coverage of small logging and fire roads that are of interest to snowmobilers, public land, cities, counties, natural landmarks, power lines, and cell tower locations. Also new this year is the inclusion of thousands of gas, food, lodging, parts, and repair establishments that are close to trails.

Now covering Ontario, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Dakota and Wisconsin, the maps are also available for Lowrance and Magellan GPS units. They can be downloaded instantly via the Red Pine Mapping website, or ordered on a preloaded SD card, for plug and play convenience.
